The Funemployed Chronicles # 1

So as most of you know, I graduated a little over a month ago. Yes, on time thank you very much! Haha! Anyway, since then everyone I know has been frantically searching for a job and since then everyone has been asking me all the freaking time if I already found a job and it's just come to a point wherein I feel like I need to hit the next person who asks me that.

But anyways, no I don't have a job yet.
No, I haven't been out job hunting either.
And no, not because I'm lazy but because I had tons of stuff lined up this summer.
Yes, I do live an awesome life.

However, I plan to start job hunting soon since my supposedly last and final hooray before jumping into the real world was cancelled. Boo.

So now I wanna start documenting my job hunting adventures which I'm sure is going to be amazingly awesome and comedic. =D

And to start off, I shall tell you the story of my first job interview.
Ha! Yes, I sent out my resumé to a couple of companies a few days before graduation. Got interviews but I had to decline the other one because it was in Bulacan. Where on Earth is that?

My first job interview was the day after my graduation it was originally scheduled on  my graduation day so I had to ask to resched which was rather...awkward because I didn't know how to ask for a resched. HAHA!

Interview day came and I woke up real early (DEDICATION RIGHT THERE. Waking up early is my BIGGEST obstacle in life.) and got ready. Papa was home so he drove me which was very convenient since the company was located in Pasig and I'm not familiar with Pasig. I probably wouldn't have made it if he wasn't there! I love my Papa. He even waited for my interview to finish then drove me back home. So sweet!

Anyway, I almost didn't make it on time since our car decided to malfunction when westopped at a gas station for bathroom break. GREAT. A couple of gas station boys helped us out and we made it with a few minutes to spare. Phew.

I'm not gonna lie. The workplace was odd. It had a creepy vibe. But I'm not picky about the workplace though since HELLO who am I??? Haha! I'd  wholeheartedly accept any job as long as it's related to my chosen career path....which to tell you the truth I'm still  not sure about. But it's okay. =)

I had to wait for about 15 minutes before the staff called me in. First thoughts, interviewer was sorta cute. HAHA! He said hi and extended his hand. I said good morning flashed him a smile and shook his hands.  He asked me to have a seat then asked the infamous question:

Tell me about yourself.

In my head I was like: Oh Shit.
I hate that question I never know what to say.

I flashed him a smile anyways then said the basics AND THEN OUT OF NOWHERE included "I'm also hardworking and goal oriented....and uuuuhhhh...yeah."
BRAIN FART.

Seriously, I don't know where that came from. The moment I uttered those words I wanted to apologize  for the stupidity and then jump out the window.

Also he asked me to rate my PHP skills. And I was like what skills? Haha! I said 6. I didn't want the company to expect. And I didn't wanna lie. I hate being lied to so I don't lie to other people. Chos.

Overall, I think I did well except for the hard working and goal oriented part. And I think I smiled too much. I think I sorta creeped him out.

If you must know, I got an invitation for a second interview! Ha! What now aye! I declined though due to uh personal reasons. But I'm glad to know I passed the first interview. Also, it means that I didn't totally creep him out! YAY!

Hopefully, my next job interviews would go better and hopefully I won't have to write many Funemployed Chronicles. I want to work na!

  1. Okay lang yan. Ako nga one year nagpahinga before nag hanap ng work. Lol. And grabe, pinakamahirap na tanong yung "Tell me something about yourself" chenes na yan. Ugh.

Nakooo. You should lie a little but during interviews. Exaggerate. Konti lang naman. HAHA
