Overreacting? Nah!: My Traumatic Experience as an Alleged DRUG TRAFFICKER in Bali Indonesia

I heard this in the news and got really curious coz I'm chismosa like that. When I heard that the girl had a blog I looked for it online and was shocked to know that it was one of my favourite travel bloggers Ms. Chyng! I was initially mad at the news since I CANNOT imagine to be humiliated for something like that.

For the sake of those who have not heard about the issue. Basically, two Filipinas were held for investigation in Bali to check if they were drug mules since apparently uso sa Indonesia ang Pinay drug smugglers... so it was only logical to check other Filipinos if they were drug smugglers... right? Maybe yes. Maybe no.

Yes because the Indonesian airport officers were just clearly doing their job to prevent illegal drugs from entering their country because drugs are not cool!
No because you can't fckn generalize. That's not cool!

If I were in Ms. Chyng's place I would go ballistic and growl like a bear and eat anyone, within three feet, alive for suspecting ME of drug trafficking. Or maybe I'd just bawl my eyes out of anger, humiliation and fear. Mostly fear.

Her blog has reached about 400+ comments and counting. Most offering words of sympathy. I read one comment though that kind of implied that she sort of overreacted and the procedure was normal. That some of the things she wrote was uncalled for.
While what some of the person wrote made sense and was logical...WHATEVS.

First, I don't think that that procedure is normal. Otherwise, a frequent traveller like her would not freak out like that.

And then, you can't help that she wrote what she wrote. That she reacted how she reacted. Why? Because she is who she is. She will react the way she wants to. And maybe, just maybe, because airport officers just searched through her stuff (which can easily lead to a frame-up and don't say that's ridiulous because it does happen) and oh her friend went through body check as well.

And don't even go saying that what they went through is not a matter of life and death. They could've been framed-up!  Which meant they could and probably would've been charged if ever for drug trafficking which leads to death penalty. That is a matter of life and death I think.

Also from what I've read when they asked what was the whole thing for the officers said "Secret."

Secret my ass you creep. I am pissing my pants in fear and anger so don't secret me!!!

And also from what I've read when they asked the officers what could be wrong the officer said "Because the 2 of you are beautiful girls." WTF. The officer was just probably trying to lighten things up and so he tried to joke around.

Dude, I might be charged with something I didn't do that could lead to death penalty so please don't try to make me feel better by answering my serious questions with stupid answers. Nakakaloko.

After all they went through I'm so amazed that they were able to keep their cool. Like I said before I'd probably go ballistic or break down crying which would just make things worse.

What they went through was traumatic. And what Ms. Chyng wrote and felt was understandable. What I can't understand is why would you go and write a comment that implies that I overreacted? What is wrong about being outraged that I was suspected as a drug trafficker??? Obviously the person was already feeling violated, down and shitty SO OF COURSE THE LOGICAL THING TO DO IS TO MAKE THEM FEEL EVEN SHITTIER! Have sympathy. Or at least have respect. Gosh.

But of course, I don't think it's right to brand Indonesians as rapists etc etc. Like I said before, generalizing is not cool. I'm a make-love-not-war, and-world-peace-I-thank-you type of person. =D

And don't go all "Well if you're innocent then you have nothing to worry about."  me because court couldn't careless about your supposed innocence when the evidence says otherwise.

Tsk. Crazy. If that were me I'd sue or something. Then demand public apology because I am important like that.

I guess next time the airport officers should  just approach visitors in a nonthreatening and nicer way if they're gonna do something like that. Like say "Hi! Welcome to Indonesia! We're really sorry to bother you but it is our protocol to examine some of passengers' things. We're really very sorry." Then smile. Maybe have a lady officer approach the passenger instead of male officers since females are less threatening? I mean they can have a male escort for backup. And then they should stop saying stupid answers to freaked out passengers. Sounds nice huh? I mean passengers aren't freaked out, airport officers get to prevent crime. Everyone's happy!

And for passengers, I guess you just have to be aware of certain protocols in the country your visiting. Always find out your country's embassy's number and pray. =)

And I'm like serious with all these brilliant suggestions I am suggesting. Awesome, aren't I?
